Sharia Board

The Shariah advisory board is comprised of experts in the interpretation of Islamic Law and its application within modern day financial solutions.

They are leading scholars representing a wide spectrum of Islamic faith and they ensure that Shariah compliance is at the heart of everything we do and every product and service that we offer.

The board meets on a regular basis to review all contracts and agreements relating to our transactions as well as to advise us, guide us and sanction any new services that we introduce. The Board certifies every account and service we provide- without their approval, we cannot introduce a new product or service.

Chairman

Mr. Ibrahim Lethome has the overall responsibility over all the Board meetings. He holds a Masters degree in Law and Islamic Shariah from Pakistan and a Postgraduate Diploma from Kenya School of Law. He is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a legal advisor to SUPKEM, Consultant on Islam and FGM, Secretary General of The Islamic Foundation, a Member of The Jamia Mosque Committee and a Lecturer of Islamic Law at Thika Islamic College. Mr Lethome was responsible for the development of the curriculum and training material s for civic education on the constitution during his time as the Commissioner of the Constitution Review Commission of Kenya.

Vice Chairman

Mr. Maalim Ismail holds Bachelor of Arts Islamic Shariah from Saudi Arabia. He teaches Islamic Studies at Namanga and has over two decades of business and NGO experience.

Mr. Mahmud Mohamed holds a Masters in Law, Banking and Finance from University of London and a postgraduate Diploma from Kenya School of Law. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Consultant in Islamic Banking. Mr Mohamed has lectured units related to Law and business ethics and is a Partner at Mohamed & Lethome Advocates.

Mr.Abdulatif Ahmed holds a PHD in Arabic from Saudi Arabia. He is a Lecturer in Nairobi University and Thika Islamic College. Mr Abdulatiff has participated in the preparation of syllabus for the Islamic Language in Somaliland; he has also worked as a lecturer at the Islamic University in Uganda.

Mr. Nandwa holds a PHD in Islamic Shariah and Post Graduate Diploma from Kenya School of law. He is an advocate of the High Court and a published author of various Islamic Journals.

Retired from the Shariah Board. His advice, guidance and contribution to the development of Islamic Banking in Chase Bank has been invaluable and greatly appreciated.
